Terry Caister - FPFS DM - CIO

Terry is the founder and Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of Professional Connection having worked in the Financial Services sector for over 4 decades in a number of diverse roles.

Terry is a Chartered Financial Planner and Fellow of the Personal Finance Society with an encyclopaedic knowledge base but has focused much of his education on the field of investment. Investment is key to many of our client aims and this expertise has been invaluable to our success as a company. Terry is a qualified Discretionary Investment Manager.
 
Terry is a committed family man, married to Aggi with two teenage boys and enjoys sailing, golf (to a fashion), tennis and travel where time permits, of course.

Mike Magill - APFS

Having joined Professional Connection in 2021, Mike has completed all of his advanced exams and qualified as a Chartered Financial Planner in 2024, at the earliest opportunity. Alongside further studying to become a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society, Mike has taken on greater responsibility within the firm and is a key leader within the team at Professional Connection.

Mike's path into Financial Services was not conventional, he was an Officer in the Royal Navy leaving in 2019 following his last deployment on HMS Queen Elizabeth. His ability to learn quickly and personable nature has led him to build strong relationships with clients, whilst providing them focussed personal advice. 

Mike is married to Sophie and has two children and enjoys football, cricket as well as an interest in politics.
 

Richard Palmer - PFS Dip

Richard is a successful Financial Planner with extensive industry experience and has been involved in the Financial Services Industry for more years than he cares to admit.

Richard is a keen Sailor and uses the same tenacious discipline to achieve the aim in his work, making for a very safe pair of hands. 

Sophie Magill - Office Manager

Sophie joined Professional Connection as an Administrator before stepping into the role of Office Manager in early 2026. She brings a uniquely diverse professional background, having previously worked in education as a Senior Lecturer and Lead BA Programme Tutor in Musical Theatre, building on her strong foundation in dance and musical theatre.

Alongside her experience in education, Sophie has also worked in marketing and events within the B Corp sector, adding further creative and organisational expertise to her skill set. She particularly enjoys the customer-facing aspects of her role and is known for her warm, approachable manner. Outside of work, Sophie is a keen runner and a proud mum to two young children. She enjoys spending time outdoors, especially countryside walks with her two beagles.  

Karen McStravick - Senior Administrator

Karen joined Professional Connection in early 2020 as Senior Administrator having previously worked in senior management for a large company. Karen brings a wealth of experience and ideas to the company.She has quickly acclimatised to working in the financial services sector and now we wonder how we survived without her. She is a credit to the company and the team.

Karen enjoys spending time with her grandchildren and is happiest outdoors walking in the countryside and travelling to warm climates.When time permits, she also enjoys oil painting.
